David Vizard - Sales Director
Born: Gloucester
First Job: Lawn mowing when I was about 14.
What I love about my current role
The buzz, the pace and diversity of being in sales. Every day the team and I speak to different people with problems that need solutions and it's great when we can help.
Most of all though, the most pleasing thing for me is watching the difference in Customers sales figures once they join. Every week I check to see how my Customers are doing and there is nothing better than seeing them increase week on week.
Outside interestsRunning, I have done 2 Half Marathons and want to do more, but faster! MMA, or mixed martial arts and spending time with my family as I am away most of the week.
Something not many people know about youFavourite author is Paulo Coelho at the moment, and as a young lad I played an "urchin" in the opera Fidelio!
One piece of advice for a start up recruitment businessFrom a sales perspective, know why you are better than your competition and their weaknesses so you have the best chance to win new business every time. Believe passionately in what you do, or don't do it.
Then - just don't take no for an answer and be persistent, persistent, persistent!
One piece of advice for an existing recruitment businessLook at outsourcing seriously.
Most owners of recruitment agencies I meet honestly don't want the hassle of having to manage payroll and juggle cash. Like me, they love the feeling of winning new business and enjoying success either themselves, or watching their team do it.
At the end of the day, you wouldn't want your best striker spending time in defence would you? You'd want them doing what they do best and love - scoring goals!
